Lullaby Milk – What’s the Story?

When your children are not able to sleep properly it can have a significant impact on other family members too. We believe we have the perfect solution to this problem with our Lullaby Milk.

Who we are and what we do

Lullaby Milk is produced by us, the Burns family on our farm at Dromtariffe. We have been farming pedigree cattle for almost 100 years so we like to think we know what we’re doing! Our cows graze the lush pastures of Duhallow in the north of the County Cork region and this is what helps to produce the delicious creamy Lullaby Milk. We milk our own cows and it is the way that we do this that gives the milk its special qualities.

But how does it work?

The natural pattern of the human sleep cycle is governed by the exposure to light or darkness. Simply put – when it is light we wake and when it is dark we sleep. One of the factors involved in making us feel sleepy is melatonin. This is a natural hormone produced by the pineal gland which becomes active after sundown. During the hours of darkness melatonin levels rise, making us sleepier. Cows also produce melatonin during the hours of darkness. This is the reason why we milk our cows before the dawn when their milk contains naturally-produced high levels of melatonin.

Award winning milk

We are proud to say that we already distribute our Lullaby Milk through major supermarkets in Ireland including Centra and Supervalu and we are hoping to expand throughout the UK in the near future. Supervalu’s Food Academy Programme has played a big part in us being able to bring the scientifically-proven benefits of Lullaby Milk to a wide customer base. And it is going down an absolute storm and proving to help more and more people to better sleep, as evidenced by the many positive comments on our facebook pages. People are telling us that they are sleeping much better after starting to take Lullaby Milk on a regular basis before they go to bed. It helps not only young children (over the age of 12 months) but older children and adults too. The elderly and children with autism appear to benefit also.

But don’t just take our – and their – word for it. We are extremely proud that Lullaby Milk has won awards at the Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards too. Why not give it a go yourself – and let us know whether you can feel the benefit of a great night’s sleep, powered by lullaby milk?
